Rosário waterfalls down over 42 meters and is a natural pool – a perfect bathing place. The scenario also depicts a cave, therapeutic trails and typical Cerrado landscapes – fields, lowlands and gallery forests. On weekends, the place offers a buffet with typical Goiás food, cooked in a firewood stove.

CACHOEIRA BONSUCESSO / BONSUCESSO WATERFALL

ABOUT

Açude, Landi, Palmito, Pedreira, Bonsucesso and Lagoa Azul are the six waterfalls of Soberbo Watercourse, one of the affluents of Almas river, and are located at Bonsucesso’s farm. Bonsucesso and its 12 meter-fall is the most stunning waterfall of the place. Bonsucesso Waterfalls may be visited from 7 AM to 5 PM. There is also a restaurant serving home-cooked fare and selling products from the farm, such as pastry, cheese, pamonha and handicraft.

SANTUÁRIO ECOLÓGICO VAGAFOGO / VAGAFOGO ECOLOGICAL SANCTUARY

Vagafogo Wildlife Sanctuary is a Private Natural Heritage Reserve created in 1990, to promote environmental education, ecotourism and food sustainable production. The reserve has a captivating and accessible 1,500-meter trail with several century-old trees, riparian forests circumscribing Vagafogo river and provides interaction with animals, flowers and birds. During the trail, you can find a natural crystalline water pool, perfect for a fresh bathing, a small waterfall, an observation area, benches, tables and decks. The Sanctuary also offers: Extensive library; Brunch: an amazing gastronomic experience; Gazebo; a hammock area; Playground; and the following Adventure activities: treetop walk, rappelling, zip-line tour and others.

CACHOEIRA DOS DRAGÕES / DRAGONS’ WATERFALL

You can find the Cachoeiras dos Dragões at a Buddhist Monastery located 40 (24,8 mi) km away from Pirenópolis. The access is made by the main monastery, with a simple and uneven 4.5 km (2,7 mi) trail, with no forests/plants. You can bathe in almost all of the 8 falls; some of them have deep plunge pools and there are two 30- and 80-meter falls. No food is provided there, so you have to bring yours.

CACHOEIRA VARGEM GRANDE / VARGEM GRANDE WATERFALL

Vargem Grande Ecological Reserve is a breathtaking trip featuring two of the most famous falls of Pirenópolis. The place is not only naturally beautiful, but is also peaceful and provides an exquisite structure to receive tourists. The hiking area has points with handrails and even surface, so your only concern will be to appreciate the magnificent natural landscapes. A parking lot, a snack bar and bathrooms are also provided. Vargem Grande is a Private Natural Heritage Reserve and a wide range of regional fruits can be found, such as our beloved pequi (souari nut), as well as buritis (moriche palm), baru (baru seed), cashew and medicinal plants (most of them have indication plates). The natural habitat of rare or threatened species is preserved here, like in any other reserve, in order to stimulate the nature’s biodiversity.

FAZENDA BABILÔNIA / BABILÔNIA FARM

ABOUT

Fazenda Babilônia was built by slaves by the end of the 18th century and it has an enormous historical value. It was preserved throughout the centuries and made into a listed building as a National Heritage. Nowadays, the enormous colonial mansion is still preserved, with its thick wood beams, adobe walls and external rock walls. The building was built in a pattern known as arquitetura colonial paulista [colonial architecture of São Paulo], since it was very common, in the 19th century, to have houses built in such a style, with the main feature being the space distribution, which allowed the slaveholder to watch and control the entire farm from some strategical spots of the house. The rescue of Fazenda Babilônia is not only about heritage and history, but on weekends and holidays, in the extensive table with a marvelous view of the farm, it is served a well-supplied meal with more than 40 options, which is called Café Sertanejo da Fazenda Babilônia [Brazilian Country Breakfast of Fazenda Babilônia]. The breakfast is served with products from the own farm, with ancient and typical Goiás dishes being offered, so you will not only eat well but will also learn about the history of the place. You can also drink juices made with seasonal and typical fruits of the region, as well as sugarcane juice, milk and coffee.

CACHOEIRA PARAÍSO / PARAÍSO WATERFALL

This waterfall is indeed located in an idyllic place , with a well-preserved Cerrado’s vegetation. It was recently opened for visitation and its access is quite easy – one of the easiest in Pirenópolis. The waterfall’s plunge pool has approximately 60m² and some points are very deep (up to 6 m). One of its highlights is the purity of water, which is completely crystal clear. Not only waterfalls may be found here, but also six natural crystalline pools surrounded by Cerrado’s vegetation.

A shallow-plunge pool waterfall with a sandbeach area – perfect for bathing. The waterfall was named after a tall and majestic century-old buriti at the end of the plunge pool. You can hike in the ecological trails and the place has an excellent infrastructure and snack bar.
