The city is placed at the Brazilian Highlands, crossing it from North to South by a cuesta formation. To the East, there is the border of these highlands’ altiplanos (high plains), with average highs above 1,200 meters, featuring rural vegetation and rocky outcrops, as well as Bacia Platina (Platina Basin) rivers, and to the West, an extensive depression with average high of 700 meters, featuring a deeper vegetation and Bacia do Tocantins-Araguaia (Tocantins-Araguaia Basin). The city’s main building is near this hilltop, in a place known as Serra dos Pireneus. Due to this topography, it is a privileged place with tourism potential, pleasant weather and hundreds of waterfalls, that fascinate both ecotourists and nature lovers.
